What Tall Cedars Do
FUN AND FELLOWSHIP FOR OUR MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES
Tall Cedars are Men from all walks of life united in brotherhood and the common beliefs of brotherly love, relief, and enjoying fun and fellowship. Tall Cedar Masons have a slogan and philosophy that distinguishes them from other Masonic bodies: “Fun, Frolic, and Fellowship for a Purpose.” Being a Cedar means attending and planning events throughout the year such as outings, sporting events, banquets, competitions, cookouts, mini-golf tournaments, parades, bowl-a-thons, and much more. The purpose of which is to provide our members with opportunities for fun, fellowship, and philanthropy, while also maintaining a family-centric focus. We love to have fun together and incorporate our families into their events because they believe in remembering to care for each other, their families, and themselves. Massasoit Forest is no exception to this; in that, they are planning a number of social activities designed to draw members and prospects from all walks of life and interests.
CREATE YOUR PATH TO FUN!
Tall Cedars is a place where Masons can forge their own path to fun and fellowship by participating in and planning activities, as well as joining or founding units or clubs to socialize with other Tall Cedars who share common interests, whether it’s their profession, a favorite hobby, or simply to hang out, have fun, and enjoy fellowship. As an example, Massasoit Forest has a clown unit, which consists of men and women from various walks of life who freely donate their time and talents to spread laughter and cheer while raising funds for The Tall Cedars Foundation. They do it because it’s a lot of fun, something they enjoy doing, and it’s very rewarding.
PHILANTHROPY AND SERVICE IS A CORE VALUE
At the heart of every Tall Cedar is the tenet of philanthropy as demonstrated by the white rose we wear, which is to continually remind us that in addition to all of the colorful fun and pageantry, we have a serious purpose as well, which is to support the Tall Cedars Foundation.
The TCF manages the Muscular Dystrophy Relief Fund which provides direct relief for children and their families affected by muscular dystrophy and other neuromuscular diseases to cover the cost of medical and adaptive equipment, therapies, and MD related recreational programs which promote their physical, emotional, and emotional well-being.
The Supreme Forest or governing body of Tall Cedars International also awards 5 academic scholarships annually for young adults to attend an accredited college or trade/technical school.
In addition to supporting the Tall Cedars Foundation and the Tall Cedar Scholarships, Massasoit Forest also conducts and participates in a number of community service projects benefiting the Greater Attleboro community throughout the year.
OUR LADIES LOVE TO GET INVOLVED TOO
Our significant others love to join in on the fun and fellowship as well, and many Forests (including Massasoit) have an auxiliary known as the Cedarettes. The Cedarettes elect their own officers and plan and conduct their own events and fundraisers throughout the year to socialize and support the Tall Cedars Foundation. Traditionally at the end of each year, they present a substantial donation to the forest, to present to The Tall Cedars Foundation as a result of their efforts.
